permataqu.xyz - A man armed with a knife went on a rampage and stabbed to death seven people in China, including a local Communist Party head. The man then jumped off the bridge and is still being wanted by police.
Police said the suspect, surnamed Gao, stabbed to death a family of five including two children in the city of Wuhan on Sunday (24/10) local time. City police said in a statement on the official Weibo microblog.
Police said the suspect also injured a pedestrian and a taxi driver while trying to steal a car to escape. He then jumped from a bridge over the Yangtze River on Monday (25/10) morning local time.
Police did not say whether the man was thought to have survived the jump.
The Communist Party leader of Xiaosi city, along with his wife, son-in-law and two grandchildren were among those stabbed to death. This was reported by the state-owned news site, China.org
Local media reported that another injured child was found at the scene alive and rushed to the hospital.
Police said they were still investigating the stabbing incident.
China does not allow civilians to carry firearms, and many violent crimes in recent decades involve knives.
In February 2019, a man who suspected his wife of adultery, stabbed eight others to death in a village in northwestern Gansu province.
Earlier, a knife-wielding man killed nine students outside a high school in northern China's Shaanxi province in 2018.
