Before you go on a trip abroad, there are a few things to consider. Especially related to the customs and habits of the place to be addressed.

Breaking the customs of a foreigner's hometown or country will make you look impolite. In order not to make mistakes in other people's land, let's look at the following things ;

  • Never tip a Japanese person.

In Europe or America, it is commonplace that it is called tipping the waiter. However, that does not apply in the land of Sakura, Japan. Giving a tip is an insult to the Japanese people. Instead of being considered loyal, you can actually hurt their feelings if you do this.

  • Don't just smile in Russia.

For most people, giving a smile is a sign of friendliness. But not in Russia. If someone in Russia smiles it is a sign that you are interested in someone.

Smiles are only given to those who already know each other. Even the shopkeeper will not give a smile to his customers. So, don't be surprised if Russians are known as less friendly people because they never smile. In fact, it has become their tradition.

  • When you are in India, don't use your left hand.
For in the east, especially Asia, the left hand means impolite. In India, never use your left hand. The left hand is considered a dirty hand. So, if you are traveling to India, use your right hand to grab something, shake hands, or take money.
  • Leave food on the plate if you travel to China.
Parents always tell us to finish the food on the plate. However, if you are in China, it is considered impolite. If you spend the available food, it means you don't appreciate the host who provides the food.

This can irritate the host, feeling that he is not providing enough food for his guests. So if you go to China, you have to remember, guys, don't leave the food left.
  • In Norway do not carelessly honk the horn.
The horn in Norway is a sensitive thing. If you are in Norway and plan to rent a car or motorbike, never honk the horn. Because the sound of the horn indicates that there is an emergency. If you just want to have fun, it's better to hold it, because it can make other motorists panic.
  • When you arrive in France Always say the word "Hello, Bonjour madame, monsieur" (meaning: Hello, ma'am, sir)
If you are boarding a bus and want to say hello to a stranger, always say the sentence above. That is the first sentence you should say. if you are traveling in France. Otherwise, you will find it difficult if you travel in France.
  • In Germany, never hide your hands while walking.
If you have to chat with Germans, never put your hands in your trouser pockets. That's a sign you don't respect your interlocutor. When you eat, your hands must be on the dining table. Do not hide your hands in your lap while in Germany.
  • Use thumbs up in Malaysia.
If you travel to Malaysia, don't be surprised if people there use their thumbs to give directions or directions to other people. The habit of Indonesian people using the index finger is held down first if you are traveling to Malaysia.
  • When you are in the Netherlands and Denmark.
Never walk on a bicycle path. If you don't want to be sprayed by local residents, don't walk on a special bicycle lane. This is very sensitive for residents in the Netherlands or Denmark.
  • South Korea.
Waving hand means disrespect. If someone wants to hail a taxi or a friend, they will usually always wave with their palms facing forward. Don't do that if you are traveling to South Korea. In South Korea, it's a sign to call a dog.
  • Metal greetings are prohibited in Brazil, Italy and Spain.
If there's a rock concert, it's usually a metal style. Be careful if you are traveling in Brazil, Italy or Spain. Metal style can be offensive to married couples, especially to men. 
  • Never cross your legs in Saudi Arabia.
For us, crossing our legs is a common thing. But, if you travel to Saudi Arabia, crossing your legs is considered taboo and disrespectful
  • Don't ask about political conditions in America or Russia.
Sometimes curious about people's opinion about politics in a country visited. For example, when we travel to Russia, we must be curious about the opinion of its citizens about its president. it's better not to ask. You can be considered ignorant and rude to ask about the political conditions of their country. The same is true in America. Asking about the political and social conditions in these two countries is quite sensitive. Better to ask for a good place to eat or a must-visit tourist spot.
