Domestic Worker Steals Singapore Employer's Property, Takes Escape Money to Rp 155 Million Jewelry

Singapore - A domestic worker or domestic worker in Singapore was reported to the police for stealing her employer's property. Reporting from Channel News Asia, the Filipino domestic worker intends to quit after 1.5 years of work.

By the employer, a week before the stoppage of the domestic workers' belongings were checked. But he was surprised after getting his valuables brought by the maid.

The woman named Castri Meldi Aloquina, 32, has stolen foreign currency, cash and jewelery worth a total of S$14,733.35 or equivalent to Rp. 155 million.

The judge sentenced Castro to five months in prison or his actions. He pleaded guilty to stealing.

According to the court, Castro worked for his 46-year-old employer since June 2020 for a salary of S$662 per month. If he doesn't take days off, he will earn an additional S$692 per month.

Prior to November 2021, Castro decided to quit his job and will return to the Philippines on November 28. Around 11 pm on November 20, his employer checked Castro's belongings.

He found a pile of foreign currency, household items and jewelry belonging to him. The employer called the police the next day.

Investigations revealed that Castro started stealing from his employer in Singapore since January 2021. Castro took items from his wallet and drawers while he was doing his daily work.

Between January and November this year, the domestic worker from the Philippines stole from her employer on at least 50 different occasions. Apart from money, he also stole various jewelery and foreign currency including a bracelet worth S$1,491 and a S$477 gold chain.

Castro said he was sorry and wanted to go home as soon as his son suffered a broken bone from falling from a tree.
