The plane crash that killed Marilia occurred in the southeastern region of Minas Gerais. The accident occurred 12 km from Caratinga, the destination where Mendonca was supposed to be performing at a concert. Apart from Mendonca, the other deceased victims were the singer's uncle, producer, and two crew members.
When the news of the plane crash occurred, staff from Mendonca reported that the singer survived. But then television news showed photos of the plane crashing badly damaged near a waterfall in the mountains.
Before the accident occurred, Mendonca had uploaded a video on his social media account. There he was seen walking with a suitcase and guitar to a private plane.
On the plane, Mendonca seemed to be enjoying a good meal, as if she had forgotten her plans for a diet.

Mendonca was then seen leaning on the fuselage while eating an apple with a sad look. It turned out that the video was the last upload of the deceased before the plane he was riding in crashed.
