North Korean Defense Minister does not applaud Kim Jong-un, this official is a mystery
A North Korean official named Ri Yong Gil received great attention from netizens because he was caught on camera looking down when other officials stood applauding Kim Jong Un.
It all started when local newspaper Rodong Sinmun released 48 photos of the workshop in June. All North Korean officials stood applauding their leader, Kim Jong Un.
However, when the photo was taken by Ri Yong Gil who was sitting, he looked down as if picking up things that had fallen under the table.
The man who serves as North Korea's defense minister seems to be in a disadvantageous situation now. The reason is, many suspects Ri Yong Gil were executed when he was fired in 2016.
Apparently, their prediction proved wrong because his name was included in the list of members of the Politburo which contained 10 senior North Korean officials at that time.
Since taking power, Kim Jong Un has executed many people, such as defense minister "Hyon Yong Chol", in 2015. Including his uncle, "Jang Song Thaek" in 2013.
